Young’s century and Tom Latham’s half-century helped New Zealand recover from 73/3 as the pair added 118 runs for the fourth wicket.

Despite the setback, New Zealand scored steadily, reaching 198/4 after 39 overs.

Earlier, Pakistan earned two key wickets in quick succession, getting rid of Devon Conway (10) and Kane Williamson (1).

Abrar Ahmed struck the first one while Naseem Shah claimed the second wicket.
